Issue No. 9 - Coast to Coast. I was back in New York City for a long weekend in April, and it was action packed and a lot of fun. I got to see close friends and family, and reconnect with people I had not seen in nearly ten years. The weather was perfect, and we spent our time walking the city, taking photos, watching street basketball, shopping, looking at art, and eating more than we should have.
I took my kids to B&H Photo Video for the first time, which was both overwhelming and amazing. I am genuinely grateful that places like that still exist. There is something special about being surrounded by so much gear, talking to people who love it as much as you do, and getting your hands on equipment you would never normally have access to.
We also had lunch at Jack's Wife Freda, which is still my favorite spot in the city. Sitting at the bar there always feels like a scene, and the food and drinks are consistently great.
Just before that, I spent a few days in Salt Lake City for work and stayed at Asher Adams Hotel, a beautiful property set in the old downtown train station. The bar there is one of the best I have been to in a while. I tried to capture the light coming through the station windows as it hit the golden leather chairs. At the Utah Mammoth game I tried Swig, The Original Dirty Soda, which was an obscene and disgusting sugar rush…but I see the appeal.
Back in Los Angeles, LAFC finally started playing some entertaining soccer again, putting up six goals against Orlando City SC.
The Yashica T4 paired with Kodak Portra 400 continues to deliver the tones and imperfections I am drawn to. For May, I am switching things up and shooting with Kodak Ultramax 200 as the summer light starts to take over.
Thanks for stopping by, Mom, and anyone else who finds their way here.
