Issue No. 10 - Just Passing Through. Welcome to Issue No. 10 of The Small Hours. This month I switched film stocks in preparation for the brighter days ahead, experimenting with Kodak Ultramax 400. The colors are punchier and more saturated than what I've been shooting, and I think I'll stick with it for the next few months. It brought out beautiful tones in the skies and water, while the neon glow of the Times Square hellscape popped against the darkness.

I was back in New York for a long weekend filled with long walks, too many bagels, time in Central Park, visits with family, and a chance to wander some familiar streets. Later in the month, I traveled to San Jose for a World Cup '94 event, where I reconnected with people I worked alongside more than 30 years ago and watched my dad be honored for his role on the San Francisco Host Committee.

Back in Los Angeles, my son took the photo of the red car on the freeway. It's one of my favorites in this journal so far.

Ten issues into this project, I find myself enjoying photography more than I have in a long time. Carrying a camera has led to unexpected conversations with strangers, many eager to share stories about the cameras they once carried. The people still shooting film usually have something even better: a camera that makes me a little jealous.

Thanks for spending a little time here. I hope you enjoy the collection.

Thanks for stopping by.
